It’s unfortunate for Reshad Jones that the Miami Dolphins are experiencing much success in 2015. He’s having a season for the ages right now and should be considered as a candidate for the Defensive Player of the Year, the Pro Bowl and an All-Pro selection. But his name doesn’t get mentioned in the conversation among some of the elite defensive backs such as Tyrann Mathieu and Josh Norman.
Jones is one of the top run stopping safeties in the league and he’s decent in coverage. He leads all safeties in stops with 42, 7 more than the next guy. Quarterbacks targeting Jones have a passer rating of 68.9 to go along with 4 interceptions (2 pick sixes). As you can see from the picture below is also one of top playmakers at his position.
Jones is the first safety in over 10 years (16th overall) to total over 100 tackles, 4 interceptions and 2 sacks.
He is going to get snubbed out of an All-Pro selection and a Defensive Player of the Year award, but let that be it! Jones was ranked 6th among safeties in votes and let’s be honest, the fact that Charles Woodson is the leading the way in votes for that position says a lot about Dolphins fans. Get and vote for your guy!
The Dolphins take on the Giants on Monday Night Football. This is a primetime opportunity for recognition!
